Lakers easily handle Nuggets as Bench Players Come Up Big

A rematch of the 2009 Western Conference Finals happened Thursday as the Lakers continued their Preseason run with a very impressive win with a score of 106-89. The Lakers improved in the Preseason to 6-1 with the win. The main news coming from the Lakers entering this game was Andrew Bynum who has led the Lakers to many of the wins in the Preseason would not be suiting up due to a right rotator cuff strain.

One of Kobe’s best games of the Preseason the World Champion MVP put up a team high 23 points while grabbing 6 boards. But Nuggets Carmelo Anthony also lit up the stat board recording 28 points and 6 rebounds. Lamar Odom was really the Key factor for the Lakers in this game he lit it up from beyond the arch shooting 5-8 from the three point line ending the game with 17 points, and 9 rebounds.

Bench players for the Lakers stepped up big on Thursday as they came into the game and finished it off. Josh Powell was very impressive bench player that stepped onto the court scoring 15 points while grabbing 6 rebounds, and made a lot of crucial plays for the Lakers. Shannon Brown also impressed with 10 points and 4 assists with just over 20 minutes on the court. The most impressive bench player who stepped up for the Lakers though was D.J. Mbenga doing it on the defensive end of the court by racking up 7 blocks and complementing it with an easy 8 points.

Status for Pau Gasol still remains out with a right hamstring strain. Bryant and Bynum Power L.A. Past Golden State

The Lakers and Warriors faced off for the third time this preseason on Tuesday, with less than 7 days left until the regular season both teams continue to prepare for opening day. It was a close game throughout but in the end the Lakers overpowered the Warriors with a score of 113-107.

Lamar Odom returned to the lineup for the Lakers as Pau Gasol once again did not dress because of a right hamstring strain. The return of Odom was felt as he scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Odom did get a technical foul late in the 3rd quarter.

The Biggest impact on the Laker side of the ball was Kobe Bryant. In the 27 minutes he was out on the floor he scored a team high 21 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, assisted 3 times, and racked up 3 steals. Another Key force in this game was once again the Young Center Andrew Bynum dropping 20 points with 9 rebounds, one board away from his 2nd double-double in a row. Ron Artest is looking very good as the regular season nears being a perfect role player distributing the ball well with 8 assists.

Very strong game for the Lakers and improves their preseason record to 5-1. They meet the Denver Nuggets in the Honda Center in Anaheim on Thursday in a rematch of the 2009 Western Conference Championship at 10:00 PM Eastern.

L.A. Preseason Showdown Finds Lakers On Top

Andrew Bynum carried the Lakers to a 114-108 win against the Clippers on Sunday, as the Clippers held the lead all the way until late into the 3rd quarter. Bynum the young center posted a double-double scoring 20 points while grabbing 13 boards in 31 minutes of play. Bynum has been the Lakers main form of points in this preseason posting the team high almost every game in the preseason this far.

Kobe had a somewhat slow game in the 27 minutes of play. He went 3-11 from the field scoring only 10 points with 4 rebounds. Kobe did however make some highlight reel plays in the process of the game.

Other Lakers that stepped up in this game included point guard Shannon Brown and the sharp shooter, Adam Morrison. Brown stepped up in the game by tying bynum in the points catagory by putting up 20 including an amazing highlight reel dunk. Morrison added to the Lakers run by going 4-4 from beyond the arch puttin up 14 points. As it gets closer to the season start Morrison becomes more and more of a great role player for the Lakers. As for injurys Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol once again were inactive for Sundays game and remain day-to-day.

The Lakers will matchup once again with the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday at 10:00 PM Eastern. The Lakers have played the Warriors twice in the Preseason and have split 1-1 with them.

Lakers Win Again This Time Against Bobcats

The Lakers squared up against the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday in another Preseason battle. The Lakers held on to a big lead the whole game while the Bobcats narrowed the lead towards the end of the game, still the Lakers pulled out the 91-87 win.

Kobe Bryant got into the game for 26 minutes and provided with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. The main attribute Kobe gave in the game was getting the other players involved as he fed Andrew Bynum the ball numerous times in scoring position.

Andrew Bynum provided the scoring boost scoring a team high 15 points in 25 minutes of play and grabbing 5 boards. Josh Powell also provided a spark tying Bynum’s 15 points and grabbing 8 boards this is a good sign for Powell and the Lakers bench with the season only a meer 9 days away.

There were questions coming into the game for Lakers starts Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol. Pau sat out against the Kings on Thursday due to a sore hamstring while Odom went out in the 3rd quarter of the Sacramento game with a bruised right shin. Both were inactive against the Bobcats and both are day-to-day. Both injurys seem to be very minor, Questions will be in the air as the Lakers face the Clippers on Sunday at 10:30 Eastern.

Lakers Continue Preseason, Take Down The Kings

The L.A. Lakers and the Sacramento Kings Faced off Thursday night in a preseason battle. The Lakers controlled the whole game but saw their lead slim down to 3 with 1:48 remaining in the game. The Lakers held on though to beat the Kings 98-92, Andrew Bynum was once again the high point man with 24 points, 20 of which came in the first half. Bynum also got on the glass with 8 rebounds.

Kobe came up huge in the 26 minutes that he played putting up 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Pau Gasol sat out this game due to a right Hamstring strain and remains day-to-day, But another injury presented itself in the 3rd quarter as Lamar Odom Left the game early with a right shin contusion, he will remain day-to-day.

With that the Lakers improve to 2-1 on the Preseason awaiting their next match up against the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday night at 10:30 eastern.
